The University of Split, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy organizes summer school for twelve different courses in the area of civil engineering, architecture and geodesy:
Application of Ground Penetrating Radar in civil engineering (GPR)
The participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of GPR operation. Through illustrative examples of GPR use, the participants will be introduced with the properties of various antenna types using different frequency range.
Coastal engineering – modeling wave transform
Many problems in coastal zones are subjected to complex physical phenomenon which are not possible to be analyzed separately. In accordance to present IT acquirement and available hardware set up, one of possible approaches to handle coastal problems is numerical modeling.
Introduction to GIS with practical applications
Introduction to GIS course provides a start-up for the practical use of GIS software and geospatial datasets. The motivation for conducting this course arises from a fact that knowledge of GIS capabilities and software is an essential skill for developing career in research, teaching and business. The course will provide participants with skills to use open source Quantum GIS software and open geospatial data.
Structural fire engineering analysis
Structural fire engineering analysis course provides an insight into contemporary engineering design procedures which consider fire as one of the actions that could threaten the ability of a structure to withstand load. The motivation for conducting this course arises from a fact that structural fire engineering courses aren’t generally included in standard teaching modules for engineers which deprives a common student of basic knowledge about fire design and how to address the problem in engineering practice.
Sustainable Architecture: Materiality and Spatial Adaptability
The participants will be acquainted with the basic theoretical knowledge about the adaptable reuse of historical buildings; learn the methodology of research and preparation of the documentation for such interventions. They will learn the theoretical foundations of building material recycling and its application. Course will include the knowledge about the application of 3d printing in architecture. The ultimate goal of this course is to point out the possibility of unifying the methods of sustainability, ie to point out that the adaptation of the existing architecture is possible precisely with the help of recycled material and 3d printing. Attendees will try to produce the most sustainable adaptation on the selected example with the help of the course teachers.
Rethinking Meštrović - Artist’s residency manifest
The participants will acquire theoretical knowledge and learn about architectural interventions through examples of the world
